In the 2022–23 season under Des Buckingham, Mumbai City FC’s attack reached a level of fluency rarely seen in Indian football. At the heart of it was the electrifying trio of Greg Stewart, Jorge Pereyra Diaz, and Lallianzuala Chhangte. Together, they had 50 goal contributions, the most by any trio in ISL history, as the Islanders scored a record 54 goals during the league phase en route to their second ISL Shield.
Stewart, fresh off his heroics with Jamshedpur FC, took on the role of chief creator once again, tallying eight goals and eight assists. Diaz operated as a clinical finisher up front, while Chhangte added pace, flair, and consistent end product from wide areas.
The Argentine striker netted 11 goals and provided seven assists, while Chhangte enjoyed his best-ever campaign with ten goals and six assists, earning him the Golden Ball award. Stewart’s vision, Diaz’s predatory instincts, and Chhangte’s explosiveness made them one of the most devastating attacking trios the ISL has ever seen.
Boumous, Coro, & Lanzarote (FC Goa – 2017-18) - 46 goal contributions

Sergio Lobera ushered in a new attacking philosophy at FC Goa, and at the centre of it was the trio of Manuel Lanzarote, Ferran Corominas, and Hugo Boumous. Lanzarote was the creative heartbeat, dictating the tempo and scoring regularly in his debut season with 19 goal contributions in 19 games. Coro, also a debutant, took the league by storm — winning the Golden Boot with 18 goals and adding five assists. Meanwhile, a young Hugo Boumous, who joined midway through the season, began to show glimpses of the playmaker he would grow into.
The chemistry between the three was instant. Lanzarote and Coro, both Spanish, shared a natural understanding, while Boumous’s dribbling and sharp link-up play added an unpredictable edge. This trio, under Lobera’s guidance, set the tone for a new era of flair and attacking football in the ISL.

Third time’s the charm. Sergio Lobera’s men continued their attacking brand of football, and FC Goa’s 2019–20 season was all about domination. At the heart of it was the dynamic trio of Hugo Boumous, Coro, and Jackichand Singh. With Boumous pulling the strings, Coro finishing moves with trademark precision, and Jackichand making disruptive runs down the wing, this attacking unit was fluid, fast, and lethal.
Boumous enjoyed a standout season, scoring 11 goals and providing nine assists en route to winning the Golden Ball. Coro added 14 goals to his ISL tally, while Jackichand chipped in with five goals and three assists, contributing with pace and purpose. Together, the trio propelled FC Goa to the top of the table, making them the first ISL club to win the ISL Shield and qualify for the AFC Champions League group stage. Their combined total of 46 goal involvements matched the tally of the legendary 2017–18 FC Goa trio.
Bedia, Coro & Jackichand (FC Goa – 2018-19) - 44 goal contributions

Another Sergio Lobera-managed trio, this one from his second season with the Gaurs, delivered style and substance in equal measure. What truly set this trio apart was the presence of Edu Bedia, who brought control and creativity playing in a more advanced role in the midfield, producing his best attacking output with seven goals and six assists. Jackichand Singh’s lively wing play added balance and unpredictability, rounding out an attacking unit that always looked dangerous. The Indian winger contributed to eight goals, adding further value to the partnership.
While FC Goa ultimately fell short of silverware, losing to Bengaluru FC in the ISL Cup final, Lobera’s expansive attacking setup mesmerised fans across the league.
Ajaraie, Jithin & Albiach (NorthEast United FC – 2024-25) - 44 goal contributions

What made this trio unique was the blend of energy, creativity, and clinical finishing.
Ajaraie emerged as a revelation, netting a record-setting 23 goals and providing seven more. Albiach brought structure and sophistication to the No. 10 role, contributing six goals and one assist. At the same time, Jithin offered relentless pace and directness on the flanks, finishing the season with two goals and five assists. Together, they reignited belief in the Highlanders’ camp and powered NorthEast United FC into the playoffs for just the third time in the club’s history.
