FC Goa defeated East Bengal FC 6-5 in a penalty shootout to win the AIFF Super Cup for a record third time
This marked the first-ever occasion that the AIFF Super Cup final was decided by penalties, adding a dramatic chapter to the tournament’s history.The match unfolded as a tight tactical battle from the outset. FC Goa, playing at home, started strong with early set-piece threats, but East Bengal FC’s defense held firm. The visitors then grew into the game, carving out chances through swift wing play led by Bipin Singh and intricate midfield combinations. Despite a few close calls like Miguel Ferreira’s shot just wide and a tense moment when PV Vishnu’s strike was cleared off the line by FC Goa's goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari. The scoreline remained goalless after 90 minutes.

Extra time brought fewer chances, but the intensity did not wane. Both goalkeepers, Prabhsukhan Singh Gill for East Bengal FC and Hritik Tiwari for FC Goa, made pivotal saves that kept the deadlock intact. When the match finally went to penalties, every kick carried immense pressure. East Benga FC’s Kevin Sibille, captain Saul Crespo, Miguel Ferreira, and Anwar Ali scored their penalties, while FC Goa’s Javier Siverio, Dejan Drazic, Muhammed Nemil, and David Timor converted theirs, pushing the shootout to sudden death.
