The Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 season has simply been remarkable thus far. The season, which has already overseen a plethora of records being created and broken, will unravel additional drama. Mumbai City FC were crowned league winners after a season of unmatched dominance and were joined in the playoffs by Hyderabad FC, Kerala Blasters FC, Bengaluru FC. 

Odisha FC and FC Goa were the two teams fighting for the final top-six place and the battle went down to the wire. Both sides lost their final league fixtures, but it was the Juggernauts who went through following FC Goa's away defeat to Bengaluru FC.

While Bengaluru FC confirmed a top-four finish with a victory in their last league fixture against the Gaurs, ATK Mohun Bagan's win over East Bengal FC in the Kolkata Derby has helped the Mariners finish third. Bengaluru FC and Kerala Blasters FC will face Kerala Blasters FC and Odisha FC respectively in a one-legged playoff knockout fixture.

With that, we take a look at the current Hero ISL standings:

Mumbai City FC - 46 points from 20 games; GD: +33

Mumbai City FC are the League Shield winners and became the first team to qualify for the playoffs of the Hero ISL 2022-23 season. The Islanders were on course to finish the season unbeaten after not ending up on the losing side in 18 games, but suffered two straight defeats to Bengaluru FC and East Bengal FC respectively. They will face either Bengaluru FC or Kerala Blasters FC in the semi-finals. 

Hyderabad FC - 39 points from 19 games; GD: +19

Upcoming fixtures - Kerala Blasters FC (A)

Hyderabad FC have ensured a second-place finish and confirmed their place in the Hero ISL playoffs, thereby becoming the second team to do so after Mumbai City FC. They will look to finish the season on a high in the final game of the matchweek against Kerala Blasters FC and will face either ATK Mohun Bagan or Odisha FC in the semi-finals.

ATK Mohun Bagan - 34 points from 20 games; GD: +7

ATK Mohun Bagan have confirmed the third spot in the Hero ISL standings after the win against East Bengal FC in the Kolkata Derby. They will face Odisha FC in the playoffs, with the winner taking on Hyderabad FC in the semi-finals. 

Bengaluru FC - 34 points from 20 games; GD: +4

Bengaluru FC qualified for the playoffs after FC Goa's defeat against Chennaiyin FC. The Blues got the better of the Gaurs in their final league fixture to ensure a top-four finish. They will go up against Kerala Blasters FC in the one-legged knockout tie, with the winner advancing to the semi-finals.

The Blasters have qualified for the playoffs for a second season running for the first time in Hero ISL history after Chennaiyin FC's win over FC Goa. They will now face Bengaluru FC in a one-legged knockout tie, with the winner advancing to the semi-finals. 

Odisha FC - 30 points from 20 games; GD: -2

The Juggernauts ended their campaign with a defeat against Jamshedpur FC at home, and needed Bengaluru FC to get a result against FC Goa to play make it to the Hero ISL playoffs for the first time in their history. The Blues' victory over the Gaurs confirmed Odisha FC's place in the sixth and final playoff position.
