The semi-finals of the AIFF Super Cup 2025-26 are upon us, with semi-final 1 set to be played between East Bengal FC and Punjab FC at 4PM at the PJN Stadium, Fatorda on December 4th. Semi-final 2 will be played between home team FC Goa and Mumbai City FC at 8PM, with Goan fans expecting their team to put on a good show in their pursuit of retaining the cup.

Punjab FC are playing their first AIFF Super Cup semi-final, and their new signing Muhammed Uvais, signed this season from Jamshedpur FC threw some light on what the mood in the camp is.

“The team is in good shape. Everybody is eager to play and give their best,” Uvais told the ISL website. “In the training ground and everywhere else, they are always positive."

We are expecting a high intensity game. We are ready for everything. Compared to last season’s team, East Bengal are much improved, and they have a lot of good quality players. We’re going to go step by step, like we did in the group stages. And that got us good results.”

On the other hand, East Bengal FC showed resilience in the group stage, and only needed a draw in their last group stage match against arch-rivals Mohun Bagan Super Giant – something which they successfully managed.

Captain Saul Crespo – East Bengal’s only remaining foreign signing hailed the impact of new signings such as Mohammed Rashid and Miguel Figueira, among others.

“This is my third year in East Bengal. The new signings are really nice guys, and they make it easy,” Crespo said.

“The first difference is – last season we started with Carles. With Oscar, we have got a chance to tweak some of our ideology, and we can see the improvement. When we see the face of the fans, and their expression, we know things are changing.

“We are going to give everything, we are going to put in everything. Traveling to Goa from Kolkata is tough, but whoever makes it here, we will give everything.

Meanwhile, for Mumbai City FC, Akash Mishra has made a comeback after a long ACL recovery. He played all three group stag matches for Mumbai City FC, and reflected on their upcoming match against FC Goa, calling them a “special opponent.”

“I feel we are ready, special stadium, special opponent. We have also played an ISL semi-final against them in this stadium. They are a good and stable side, and we are ready. We have prepared well,” Mishra said.

Last season was not what we expected and sometime we have to face the downs. The new players that have come in have added a very good quality. They’ve given us good possibilities which we were missing in the last season.”

“Come for the game if you can. If you can’t, watch us on TV, and we’ll do our best to give something back to you,” he signed off with a message for the fans.

Finally,Drazic’s mindset reflected the general mood of the FC Goa team, being the only team among the semi-finalists to currently be playing competitive matches thanks to their ACL 2 campaign. He spoke with hunger about ensuring that the team reserves its spot in next season’s continental competition as well.

As of now, winning the Super Cup is the best way to be in Asian Competition,” Drazic said.

“Sure, we go step by step, but right now I’m thinking about the final. I want to win this Super Cup. Right now, I only have one mission, and I want to complete this mission,” he concluded.
