East Bengal FC showcased grit and precision to secure a 3–1 victory over Punjab FC, booking their spot in the AIFF Super Cup final for the third time.
The game’s breakthrough came early in the 12th minute when Mohamad Bashim Rashid capitalized on a short-corner flick to score his first goal for the club, firing a low shot beneath the keeper. Punjab equalized in the 34th minute via a penalty after a defensive handball; Daniel Ramirez calmly converted from the spot.

However, East Bengal regained control just before halftime, with Kevin Sibille powering in a towering header from another well-delivered corner. In the 71st minute, Miguel Ferreira’s brilliant dribbling set up captain Saul Crespo, who confidently slotted a left-footed finish to seal the win.
Throughout the match, East Bengal’s defensive discipline and set-piece mastery proved decisive, while Punjab’s efforts to break through were repeatedly thwarted. The defending champions struck early, with Brison Fernandes breaking the deadlock in the 20th minute following a defensive lapse by Tiri. Just three minutes later, David Timor doubled Goa’s lead with a powerful long-range strike, putting Fatorda in celebration mode.
Mumbai City FC fought back fiercely after halftime, creating chances and earning a penalty, which Lallianzuala Chhangte missed. However, they pulled one back in the 59th minute through Brandon Fernandes, reigniting hope.
Despite Mumbai’s relentless pressure, FC Goa goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwari made a series of crucial saves to keep his team ahead.
