Mumbai City FC have announced their final foreign recruit for the 2018-19 campaign of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) with the capture of Congolese international Arnold Issoko.

Issoko has played the majority of his career in Portugal, spanning a period of seven years. Starting his youth years at Freamunde, his first professional stint was with Rebordosa AC in the fourth tier of Portuguese league football.

After successful stints with Rebordosa and Limianos, Issoko earned the callup to the Primeira Liga with GD Chaves. He would go on to have a successful two-year spell with the Portuguese top-flight team, making more than 60 appearances for the club. In 2015, he signed for another Primeira Liga club, Vitória Futebol.

Mumbai City will be the Issoko’s first spell outside Europe and in India, and it will be interesting to see how the 26-year-old settles in. The Islanders have ably strengthened their squad ahead of the new campaign with the signings of Paulo Machado and Modou Sougou over the past week.

Jorge Costa’s men, who are currently undergoing their pre-season campaign in Thailand, will kick-off their Hero ISL 2018-19 proceedings at home against Jamshedpur FC on October 2.
