Mumbai City FC edged past FC Goa with a miraculous late comeback in the first leg of semi-final 2 in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Wednesday.

The Gaurs scored an early opener in the 16th minute of the match through Boris Singh. Brandon Fernandes doubled the lead in the 56th minute scoring a screamer from outside the box.

With time running out for the Islanders to cut short their deficit stepping into the second leg, Lallianzuala Chhangte inspired Mumbai City FC to a remarkable comeback.

The winger bagged himself a brace in the dying minutes of the match with Vikram Partap Singh’s goal sandwiched between them.

Scoring three goals in just below six minutes, the Petr Kratky-coached side went on to win the match 3-2, overturning FC Goa’s 2-0 lead which lasted till the 90th minute.

With this win, Mumbai City FC became the first team to overturn a 2-0 lead in a playoff game in ISL history, taking a goal’s advantage to home in the second leg which is to be played on April 29.
