Goals are often worth their weight in gold, and when they come in triplets, it’s nothing short of a jackpot.

Hat-tricks are a culmination of a player’s quality, precision and composure where one player single-handedly dismantles an opposition, often setting his team on the path to victory.

The Indian Super League (ISL) has been graced with a collection of hat-tricks that have transcended statistics and become iconic moments in the league's journey over the decade.

Here’s a look back at five memorable hat-tricks that etched themselves into ISL folklore.

Andre Moritz: ISL 2014

Andre Moritz scored the first-ever hat-trick in ISL history as Mumbai City FC recorded a dominating 5-0 victory at home against FC Pune City in 2014.

Moritz’s quick step-over and a precise curling strike from the edge of the box opened the scoring in the 12th minute. He netted the second in the 27th minute from a corner kick with his left-footed shot from close range, giving the opposing goalkeeper no chance at the near post. The Brazilian completed his hat-trick in the 71st minute again with his dazzling footwork inside the opponent's box, followed by a clinical right-footed finish.

Sunil Chhetri: ISL 2015

Sunil Chhetri became the first Indian to score a hat-trick in the ISL. The veteran forward achieved this milestone while playing for Mumbai City FC, netting a treble against NorthEast United FC in the Islanders' commanding 5-1 home victory.

Chhetri broke the deadlock in the 25th minute with an ice-in-the-veins Panenka from the spot. He doubled his tally with a classic poacher’s finish in the 40th minute. Early in the second half, he completed his hat-trick with a powerful strike again from the spot, etching his name into the ISL record books.

Ferran Corominas: ISL 2017-18

A jaw-dropping seven-minute hat-trick. Ferran Corominas etched his name into the history books by scoring the fastest hat-trick in league history during FC Goa’s 5-2 victory against Kerala Blasters FC at the Fatorda.

Coro scored his first in the 47th minute with a clinical finish. The Spaniard recorded his second with a scooped finish in the 51st minute, lifting the ball over the onrushing Blasters’ keeper. Just three minutes later, the Spaniard completed his hat-trick with a composed finish from Manuel Lanzarote’s assist.

Bartholomew Ogbeche: ISL 2018-19

From 0-2 down to a stunning 4-3 win, that too in Chennai, Bartholomew Ogbeche’s sensational hat-trick powered NorthEast United FC to a memorable comeback win against Chennaiyin FC.

Ogbeche opened the scoring for the Highlanders with a crucial strike in the 29th minute. Although the Marina Machans quickly restored their two-goal cushion, the Nigerian forward responded with two goals in quick succession, striking twice within three minutes, to bring his side back into the contest, showcasing his clinical finishing in the final third.

Kiyan Nassiri: ISL 2021-22

A hat-trick for the ages. Kiyan Nassiri stole the show in the high-stakes Kolkata derby for Mohun Bagan Super Giant against arch rivals East Bengal FC, delivering a sensational cameo coming off the bench. At just 21 years and 73 days old, he became the youngest hat-trick scorer in league history.

The Mariners were trailing by a goal in the second half when Nassiri was introduced in the 61st minute. He levelled the score within just three minutes of coming on. Then, in stoppage time, he struck twice in quick succession to hand the Mariners a memorable derby win.
