Kalu Uche’s 87th-minute winner proved to be the difference at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati, where Delhi Dynamos FC edged hosts NorthEast United FC 1-0 on Wednesday in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18. The visitors’ skipper was brought in as a substitute in the 65th-minute to add power to the Lions’ attack and he didn’t disappoint, as his header gifted his team maximum points. Post the match, the Nigerian spoke to indiansuperleague.com regarding the victory, his goal and more. Here are the excerpts.

Your thoughts on the match?

Honestly, I am the happiest man in the world and this is the moment we have been waiting for a long time. I am so happy with the team’s performance. Honestly, we played really good, and I hope and pray that I continue.

Take us through your goal.

Well, the goal was a pass from David Ngaihte. I saw him when he was about to cross the ball, so I had to beat the defender behind and then I got a fantastic goal. I am happy.

How did it feel to come to Guwahati and play?

I feel good. It was a good pitch and a good stadium. Unfortunately, there weren’t too many people today. But we feel good, especially the team, and I am so happy with the victory.

What are the plans for the upcoming games?

We’ll keep fighting. We have four games left and for us it is like four finals. They’re very important games and we’ll keep fighting no matter the situation and the position of the team. We’ll keep fighting till the last game.

How happy are you with your performance this season?

So far so good, but I am not really happy with the position of the team. But sometimes in football, you plan something and some other team comes up. We just have to take it in good faith, keep fighting, keep working hard and try as much as we can to win the remaining games.
