SC East Bengal have roped in young striker Subha Ghosh on a season-long loan from Kerala Blasters FC, the club announced on Thursday. Ghosh joins the Red and Gold brigade after spending half-a-season with Kerala Blasters FC where he was signed in the January transfer window earlier this year.

The 20-year-old from Kolkata shot to prominence after helping Mohun Bagan AC win the 2019-20 Hero I-League, scoring three goals in eight appearances under head coach Kibu Vicuna.

“For a local boy who has grown up watching East Bengal and Mohun Bagan play, it is always a proud feeling to don their shirts. I cannot express how happy I am after signing for SC East Bengal. I know I can grow here and give my best,” Ghosh said after putting pen to paper for the club.

“I know how passionate the fans are about this club and what it means to them. Playing for SC East Bengal means a lot of responsibility and I am ready for the challenge. Also, I am looking forward to working with a legend like Robbie Fowler. Being a striker myself, I am sure I will get to learn so much every day from him,” Ghosh added.

An academy product of Mohun Bagan, Ghosh made his senior debut for the Green and Maroon outfit during the 2019-20 Hero I-League season. He was part of the ATK Mohun Bagan set-up in the first half of Hero ISL 2020-21 season before re-uniting with Vicuna at Kerala Blasters FC.

SC East Bengal, coached by Liverpool legend Fowler, took part in their maiden Hero ISL campaign last time, finishing in ninth place.
