FC Goa head coach Zico understands the importance of a first win of the season as the Gaurs play defending champions Chennaiyin FC in their 2016 Hero Indian Super League match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Thursday.Goa is the only team this season not to have got any point from their previous two matches as they came up short against NorthEast United FC and FC Pune City, and on Thursday they lock horns with a team that beat them in the final of Hero ISL 2015.“We are prepared and will play for a good result. We didn’t play badly but we didn’t get a good result but we will play a good match tomorrow,” Zico told reporters ahead of the match on Wednesday. The last time these two teams met, FC Goa conceded two quick goals in the last few minutes of the game to lose the 2015 Hero ISL final 3-2. Zico, however, refused to call it a revenge match. “I do not think about the past. What is past is past and nothing can motivate me from the past,” the Brazilian said.Goa were the top-scoring side last season with 34 goals and have scored just one goal so far but more importantly, they have not been able to throw a scare into opposition defences. Zico explained the situation.“We are working on it in training but even in the first season, we scored only two in the first two games. I think we’re playing well but the best players from the opponents have been their goalkeepers and even though we’re attacking there are not many goals. I’m not worried about the style but maybe the players are lacking confidence a little to find the back of the net,” Zico said.Zico also refused to reveal anything when asked whether or not Robin Singh will play his first game this season in FC Goa colours. “I cannot say. We have one more training session to go and only after that we will know which players can play.”However, he was more upfront on goalkeeper Subhasish Roy Chowdhury’s injury. “He is practising. He has been cleared by the doctors to play. So when the opportunity comes for him he will play,” Zico said.
