FC Goa head coach Zico was in an elated mood after his side came from behind to beat Delhi Dynamos FC 2-1 and win their first game in the Hero Indian Super League. The Brazilian legend thanked the Goa fans for their support and assured them that this win was the first of many to follow.“I’m an optimistic guy so I believed till the end that the best could happen. As a coach I’ve won and lost games at the last moment so anything can happen in football,” Zico said. “I would love to thank the Goa supporters for all the love and care they’ve shown to the club and it was wonderful to win for them and I want to assure them that this will be the first of many.”Talking about the injuries suffered by his key players -- midfielder André Santos and defender and captain Grégory Arnolin who were substituted in the first and second half respectively -- Zico said, “André was already carrying a problem from the last game when he picked up a knock on his leg. He got hit in the same place and was not able continue. I think André will be okay but Grégory might be worse, it’s in the knee so it’s more complicated.”When asked to comment on what is lacking in Indian football, Zico replied, “There’s a lack of grassroots training, right from the under-15, under-16 teams, so if we can fix that, then we can see the future of Indian football.”Lastly, Zico dwelt on what he expects from his team in the future: “I like the fact that my team creates opportunities; if we’re not scoring goals, it’s fine, it shows the development in our work. There are things the players have to learn.”Hero of the match Jewel Raja was also over the moon with his team’s victory, more so because he got the equaliser. He took the opportunity to thank the coach, saying, “I’m really happy, because I was injured for the past one month. I’m really thankful to my coach for letting me play.”
