Youngsters keep up the good work on Day 5 of the RFYC Final Selection Camp

All 158 participants of the 2016 Reliance Foundation Young Champs Final Selection Camp in Navi Mumbai were transferred from their base Beverly Park to Fr. Agnel Ground by bus for the morning session on Day 5, which ran from 7-9 am. The session featured warm-ups, shooting practice, passing practice and small-sided games.
The youngsters then returned to their Beverly Park base after training and breakfasted around 9:30 am before proceeding to their rooms for some rest time to allow them to recover sufficiently before the evening training session. An audio feature was also exhibited in the auditorium during this period and was optional for the kids to attend.
Soon after the video exhibition had concluded in the auditorium, the aspiring players once again assembled in the marquee tent for lunch at 12:45 pm. Another seminar began in the auditorium around 2 pm with all the youngsters and the chaperones making their way to the location for information on the project and programme.
The seminar ended around 2:45 pm as all players returned to their respective rooms to recuperate in time for the evening session. The young hopefuls made their way back to the marquee tent around 4:30 pm for refreshments before boarding the bus to reach Fr. Agnel Ground for the evening session.
The evening session started at 5 pm with and had a high intensity 7-v-7 tournament for the under-12s as well as an 11-v-11 tournament for the under-13s. All the players in the tournament were observed and evaluated by the on-looking coaches. The session ended around 7, following which the gifted young talents were transferred back to Beverly Park where they were served dinner in the marquee tent around 8 pm.
Assistant head coach of the Reliance Foundation Young Champs programme Jose Barreto spoke about the level of talent on display in this year’s final selection camp. “We all feel that the level and intensity is higher this year. And it’s not because of us, it is because of the players. The young champs who have come here, have really come to stay,” said Barreto.
