Indian football team winger Lallianzuala Chhangte believes the Blue Tigers can steal all three points against Syria in their final AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 Group B fixture at the Al Bayt Stadium on Tuesday.

Igor Stimac's side have suffered defeats in their opening two matches of the tournament against Australia and Uzbekistan. However, they still stand a chance of progressing to the next round given that they beat Syria and the other results from their group go in their favour.

Chhangte is looking forward to the next match with optimism and wants to make the Indians happy and leave Qatar satisfied.

“Obviously, we didn’t have the journey we wanted to have. But, we are very, very positive and the atmosphere in the team right now is really, really good because we know what we need to do and it's all about doing what we need to do in the next match. The preparation is in full swing, everyone is ready to play, to give their 120% and we will try our best to make the Indian people happy and we try to go home satisfied,” stated Chhangte while speaking to ISL Media.

India are yet to score a goal this tournament and have shipped five goals across two games. The Blue Tigers have created a few chances in both their games, but converting them has been a struggle.

Reflecting on their AFC Asian Cup campaign, Chhangte added, “I think in terms of playing good football we have done pretty well in the last two matches but it's obvious that we didn't create chances enough. We had some decent chances but I think it's all about taking our chances in the next match, and for sure we will have our chance, it's all about taking the opportunity and getting three points.”

The 26-year-old feels that the squad is ready to face Syria and their only focus is on getting the three points.

He stated, “It’s all about being positive and taking one game at a time. That's, I think, really, really important. Of course, we can't go back in the past and play against Australia or Uzbekistan. That can’t happen, but it's all about looking ahead at what's in front of us, which is Syria. So all our focus is against them and we will try our best to get three points.”

Kerala Blasters FC defender Pritam Kotal highlighted the positivity in the Indian dressing room ahead of the crucial game.

“The mood isn't that great in the dressing room but we are still positive because, the way we played the last match, how we approached the match against Uzbekistan, I think we will continue with the same against Syria and we will try to get a good result,” Kotal stated.

Expressing his gratitude towards the fans, he said, “The fans are our 12th man and Qatar (based) Majapadda and in all of India, all the fans that we have, please continue supporting us and we will do something great ahead.”
