Mohammedan Sporting Club head coach Andrey Chernyshov emphasised his confidence in his players after their hard-fought victory over Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Saturday.

Mirjalol Kasimov delivered a stunning free-kick in the dying moments to end Mohammedan SC’s 11-match winless streak, securing their second win of the season. This crucial victory also lifted the Kolkata-based side off the bottom of the table.

Despite Bengaluru FC dominating possession and creating several promising chances, Mohammedan SC seized their opportunity from a set-piece. Kasimov's expertly taken free-kick beat Bengaluru FC goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu in goal. On the other end, Mohammedan SC goalkeeper Padam Chhetri was instrumental, making numerous vital saves. Chernyshov praised his team's performance and expressed satisfaction with how they executed their game plan.

“We explained to our players what we need to do and I'm so happy how these players played this match today, how they worked this time. They believed and also I believed that one time, we would change this situation. We started to score, we started to win because I know these players; they are very good and I’m so happy to work with them. I want to say thank you to my players. And for my staff who helped me too much from the bench, this is really important work. We are really happy,” the Mohammedan SC head coach said during the post-match press conference.

Mohammedan SC extended their unbeaten streak to three matches, recording three consecutive clean sheets. Their recent results have come on the road against NorthEast United FC and Bengaluru FC, two of the league's most formidable attacking sides this season.

Speaking about their change in results since the turn of the year, Chernyshov explained: “Many of our players without ISL experience played this league and we needed time. I told people we need time. Now we are starting to be in better physical condition. Now we are starting to understand each other better in the team and now they (players) know what we need to do on the ground. You cannot make a team in 15 days and start to play good immediately. But slowly, slowly we are coming up. We need to continue to work like this.”
