Chennaiyin FC interim head coach Syed Sabir Pasha lamented his side’s inability to produce a response after falling behind in games in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) season as his team fell to a 0-3 loss against Kerala Blasters FC on Saturday.

Chennaiyin FC defended astutely in the first half but were blown away after the interval as their winless run was extended further.

Match Report: Kerala Blasters FC ease past Chennaiyin FC to keep semi-final bid on track

Pasha spoke to the media after the match.

Here are the excerpts from his post-match press conference:

Do you think despite the defeat, your team made it hard for Kerala Blasters FC to get the three points?

Yes, we can say that we defended very well in the first half. We made things difficult for them. We should have continued that for more 15-20 minutes and then they would have felt the pressure. But they got that goal and once they get that goal, it's always difficult for Chennaiyin FC. The whole season has gone like that. Once we have conceded it has been hard to come back. But the boys showed character in the first half. They should take it as a positive.

Getting shots on target has been a big problem for the team. What do you think should be done to correct that?

We can cross and finish but on that occasion you have to do the job. Like many coaches say, you have to buy players to do the job. You can also teach the players but confidence and the timing is also important. It's one thing to do in training but it's difficult in the match.

Your last match is against ATK Mohun Bagan. Realistically, will you go for a win or give chances to players?

Even in this match we gave chances to players. Once we knew that things were not going our way, we brought in some youngsters who had to play. Next match too we have to keep the team in contention. That is also most important and then we have to think about it.
