Match Report: NorthEast United FC 5-0 Jamshedpur FC

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Benali highlighted the team's performance stating, “The most important thing (is we) played well, we did what we (had to) should do in all the games. Most importantly we didn't concede and (I am) happy and proud of the players.”

He also agreed that the team’s focus should now be on the next match, reiterating that this win should not mask the work still to be done “from tomorrow thinking of the next game... As I said in the press conference before the match..this should not be a tree to cover all the forest..we need to keep working the league is still so long”

On discussing what stood out to him the most from the team's performance, Benali praised the defenders. “Very solid defending, pressing the ball well, playing good football. When we had a chance, we scored,” he said.

Speaking on the absence of midfielder Mohammed Ali Bemammer, who missed the last game, Benali brushed aside any concerns, affirming, “This is football. We win and lose games, this has nothing to do with one player or the other.”

Talking about the victory, he said that it was indeed not easy and was a hard-fought win “Was not easy, we've been working for one week on all the details and everything. Nothing is easy..we were playing against a strong and physical team. We knew that if we do our job, (execute) our game plan, we can win and that is what happened. We trained a lot to do this,” he said.

Benali also shared insights on the words of club owner John Abraham before the match, recounting the motivating message. “His words were, ‘I am sure you are gonna win. You are good people but today you are gonna win because you are bad’ and that is what happened.”

Benali concluded by talking about the players and their motivation for the game “They showed other teams with more points than them that they are not better than us. And we hoped we would be hungry again, to bite and this is what happened. They do not need to be motivated they know what they are doing”

Looking ahead, NorthEast United will take on their next challenge against Odisha FC, hoping to carry this momentum into their upcoming fixture.
