Atlético de Kolkata goalkeeping coach Deshi Bhaktawer.Atlético de Kolkata goalkeeping coach Deshi Bhaktawer has dismissed the notion that his team have come to the Deccan seeking revenge against FC Pune City when they meet in a 11th round match of the Hero Indian Super League on Saturday night. The hosts had routed the Kolkata side 1-3 in their first leg meeting at the Salt Lake Stadium a few weeks ago.But Bhaktawer doesn’t see it that way. “What’s important is that we come here and give our 120 per cent. They are a good team, and we are well aware of that, but it’s not about revenge,” he clarified at the pre-match press conference.Stressing that they would be going for a win, the South African national explained, “Every single game you play, doesn’t matter who the other team is, you want to win the game. You don’t go to lose or to draw, we always want to win.” Kolkata have a chance to capitalise on Chennaiyin FC’s loss yesterday and go on top on goal difference if they win with a big margin. But Bhatkawer said that this eventuality is not his main concern. “That’s not entirely uppermost on my mind,” he revealed. “It’s always nice to be on the top of the league but the first thing is tomorrow’s game. We’ll approach that with quite a lot of caution, at least initially, but I don’t think our approach is going to change too much.”“Pune are a good team, you may mention a couple of players, but they all have to be taken care of,” said Bhaktawer, after being questioned on the possible team’s tactics to contain the likes of Kostas Katsouranis and David Trezeguet.Kolkata have three consecutive games on the road and their last fixture at home and on being questioned about the impact of home and away games on a team’s performance, Bhaktawer explained, “No doubt, home advantage always counts; it’s not just about the pitch but also your surroundings, the fact that you’re not traveling, you don’t have to leave early, all that sort of things. But we’re getting used to the travels, it’s not as strenuous as it was in the first 14 days of the league.”When asked why the team’s recent performances were not up to the mark, forward Arnal Llibert explained that it was not that their performances were going down but that rival sides had tightened up their defences. “Every team wants to win, doesn’t matter how and in what minute. The defences are much better than the attacks most of the time now. And it’s not just us, but most of the teams are beginning to struggle now, as players are getting weary. But as Deshi said, we’re here, and we are going to give our 100 percent, and try and win the game,” the Spaniard maintained.“We want to keep a clean sheet,” added left back Nallappan Mohanraj, while airing a defender’s perspective. “The best strategy to face Pune is to just go out and face them, and if they are doing well, I have to go out there and show them that I can also do well against them.”
