After securing a berth at the final of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 season, Kerala Blasters FC’s head coach Ivan Vukomanovic sent a special message to the fans post their semi-final victory over Jamshedpur FC at the Tilak Maidan Stadium, Goa.

“We need you to fight with us. We will do our best for you (fans). We have been missing you throughout the season, but now we want to see you. We want to see that yellow sea. We are waiting for you guys. Come on (in the Stadiums) on Sunday,” said Vukomanovic in an exclusive conversation with ISL Media Team after the match.

His side climbed the summit top with a 2-1 win on aggregate against Jamshedpur FC. A strike from Sahal Abdul Samad in the first leg meant Kerala Blasters FC arrived in the second leg of the semi-final with an edge over their opponents. The edge was soon converted to advantage by an Adrian Luna goal in the 18th minute, assisted by Alvaro Vazquez.

“It was tough. Jamshedpur always plays physically, making spaces on the pitch. We were focused, we knew how we wanted to play and we are in the finals,” said Luna.

Vazquez too had an opportunity to get on the scoring sheet within the first couple of minutes of the game when he came to a one-on-one situation against Jamshedpur FC goalkeeper TP Rehnesh, however, going off-target.

“Yes, this is football. You can lose the chance but most important thing is that we are now in the finals and maybe I will score in the final,” Vazquez on the missed opportunity.

Luna is now hopeful that the team will be able to win it for the fans and had a message for all the fans waiting for Kerala Blasters FC to lift the silverware.

“You feel the love (from fans) on social media. Every day they are texting us, sending us letters Hopefully, we can give them this trophy for which they have waited for so long.”
