Jamshedpur FC head coach Khalid Jamil is prepared for a tough challenge as they prepare to face Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Thursday.

The Men of Steel will be playing what could potentially be the decider for the final berth of the ISL 2023-24 season playoffs, with Mumbai City FC, Odisha FC, Mohun Bagan SG, FC Goa and Kerala Blasters FC having already made it through.

Both Jamshedpur FC and Chennaiyin FC currently have 21 points to their name, currently placed at the seventh and ninth spot on the league table respectively, although Chennaiyin FC have played one game less.

The Jamshedpur head coach is full of respect for Chennaiyin FC and their head coach Owen Coyle and urged his players to play with caution.

They're a formidable team, boasting talented foreign & Indian players. Their performance under their coach has been commendable, and even their Indian players have shown quality. However, we need to approach this upcoming match with caution. It won't be an easy game. It's important not to underestimate them. Our preparation remains the same, but we must stay alert,” stated Jamil in the pre-match press conference.

Jamshedpur FC have been brilliant since the beginning of the second half of the ongoing league season, with Javier Siverio and Jeremy Manzorro being among the key players for the Men of Steel, contributing a cumulative of seven goals.

However, to make it through to the playoffs the Men of Steel must win both their remaining matches, against Chennaiyin FC and FC Goa. Even then, their qualification will depend heavily on NorthEast United FC and Bengaluru FC dropping points.

Jamil remains optimistic about his team, acknowledging their unity as their strength.

He shared, “The players are motivated and working diligently. While pressure exists, we're equipped to handle it, focusing solely on achieving positive results against tough opponents. Team morale and camaraderie are paramount. Having a united front within the team enhances our performance.”

With two must-win games ahead, the 46-year-old requests the Jamshedpur FC fans to back them up, acknowledging that their support makes a significant difference.

“Fan support is crucial for us. When backed by enthusiastic fans, every player is motivated to give their best. So, we urge our supporters to continue rallying behind us for this pivotal game. Your unwavering support makes a significant difference,” he signed off.
