Odisha FC head coach Kiko Ramirez felt his side paid the price for losing focus during the match as they went down 1-2 to Kerala Blasters in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Tilak Maidan in Vasco, Goa on Sunday.

Despite creating chances, Odisha FC were beaten by Kerala Blasters who had not won in the Hero ISL in their previous 11 attempts. The loss put an end to their perfect start to the season.

Ramirez spoke to the media after the game and here are the excerpts from the post-match press conference.

Two wins to start the campaign and then a loss today. Do you feel that the team could have done more today?

It's true that we didn't start very well but at the end of the first half we had clear chances and also at the beginning of the second half to take the lead but we couldn't convert it. In the best moment of the match for the team, we conceded a goal because we're not focussed and they beat us with a through ball. For the second goal there must be some fair play. If it's a bouncing ball you must act in a different way.

What was the reason for Jonathas' absence from the squad today?

It is not very serious but he has a little muscle problem so we thought that it was better if he took a rest.

Spanish players have thrived in the Hero ISL and that's the case with Odisha FC too this season. What do you think is the reason behind that?

Not only in India but Spanish players are playing well everywhere. There are so many high quality players in Spain and not all can play there so they are playing in different countries.

What next for Odisha FC after this loss?

Firstly we need to recover the players physically and mentally and focus on the next match.
