We have been unlucky in some games this season: Odisha FC’s Kino Garcia

Odisha FC head coach Kino Garcia stated that his team have been unlucky in the tournament as they failed to collect three points in their previous matches. Garcia’s men played out a 2-2 draw against Chennaiyin FC on Wednesday in Match 93 of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at Tilak Maidan Stadium, Vasco da Gama, Goa.

Nerijus Valskis broke his 11-game barren run with the second equaliser of the game in the 69th minute after Jonathas (51') and Javi Hernandez (18') had scored for Odisha following Rahim Ali's second minute opener in favour of Chennaiyin.

Odisha and Chennaiyin stay 7th and 8th on the table with 22 and 21 points respectively with both teams playing 17 games each.

Garcia addressed the media after the game.

Here are some excerpts from his press conference:

Is this a game you should have won?

Yeah, I think so. If you see the chances that we had, and how much we struggled to score a goal. We took 25 shots to score a goal. And they easily scored two goals. They scored on the first chance of the match. But we made a good come back, our team pushed we drew the match. We even had chances to score the third but we couldn’t, that's football.

What was the chat at the half time?

Not much as we were doing well, told the boys the need to keep doing the same. And then I think in the second half until we scored a second goal where we were okay. And after we scored I think we were a little nervous maybe because of the second goal. Then they pushed the game and draw the game.

Do you think the opportunity to go in semi-finals has taken a hit with this result?

Since there's points, we say in Spain, if it's life then there's hope. So we still are alive. We will keep fighting for that, of course we knew is difficult. But also, we are only two points behind the best season of Odisha FC one record that we can we can pass and just improve the players.

Are all three remaining games now a must win for you?

Of course, but we want to win every game at the end. We want to beat every team. In every single match we want win. The guys are really disappointed now all the boys are feeling bad because I think that we have kind of been unlucky in some matches that we didn't get the three points and maybe we deserve in some situations. So of course for our say, this is difficult, but we want to win every game.
