Hyderabad FC head coach Manolo Marquez felt his side deserved to win after they recorded a 3-0 victory against Bengaluru FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, in Bengaluru, on Friday.
Goals from Bartholomew Ogbeche, an own goal by Sandesh Jhingan, and a third goal from Joel Chianese at the very end earned Marquez’s side a victory and all three points away from home. The defending Hero ISL champions also recorded a clean sheet, which was their seventh of the season.
🤩 The 3️⃣ points are ours!

The 54-year-old expected a tough time facing Bengaluru FC, but was pleased with how his players performed exactly as they trained during the week. Marquez summed up the game against Bengaluru FC, who had more of the ball, but felt HFC were in control, which made a difference in the game.
“The game was more even than 3-0 and we deserved to win, and every action and moment was for us," he said at the post-match press conference. "We scored the first goal when there was nothing else going on, and then we scored the second goal before halftime."
“Bengaluru FC were pushing hard, and it is true that we had a very good scoring chance, and finally we killed the game very late, but if BFC had scored a goal in the second half, then we would have had a tough time in the last minute,” he later added.
Ogbeche ended his goal drought after a well-taken free-kick routine, as the HFC striker netted his third goal of the season. Halicharan Narzary and Ogbeche combined beautifully before the latter fires his shot into the back of the net with power. Marquez had words of praise for his coaching staff after that goal.
“The goal scored by Bartholomew Ogbeche was the sort of goal he scored when he was at Kerala Blasters FC, and we tried to do it against ATK Mohun Bagan, and usually the coaches are very happy when the players score a goal through set-pieces that we train, and it is more credit to my staff than me,” the head coach said.
Manolo Marquez spoke about the clean sheet and the 1-0 wins and how it was a concern for the team. Tonight they won 3-0 and he thinks it is a positive reflection on the attacking style that he wants his team to play with.
The Spaniard spoke in the official post match press conference as his team looks to take each game as it comes while trying to maintain an eye on the top spot in the standings.
Hyderabad FC made three changes to their starting eleven with key players such as Mohammad Yasir, Joao Victor and Chinglensana Singh missing out. Marquez heaped praise on his team and was delighted for the young players who got a chance to prove themselves.
“We did score three goals, and this is the kind of thing we love in football," Marquez said. "I am very happy to play with young players like Rohit Danu and Aaren D’Silva and get a result at such a difficult stadium."
The Spaniard further mentioned that his team need to focus on each game and not the title. Hyderabad FC face NorthEast United FC in their next fixture and Marquez said his team need to prepare well for the upcoming match.
“We are not thinking about the title challenge as of now, and we are going game by game," he said. "Now we have to face a difficult team and play against NorthEast United FC. We have to prepare nicely for the game and only think about the next game," he stated.
