Chennaiyin FC head coach Owen Coyle expressed delight at his side coming back from behind to beat Jamshedpur FC 5-2 in Chennai on Sunday.

The match featured a flurry of goals, starting with Jamshedpur FC taking an early lead through Rei Tachikawa. However, Chennaiyin quickly responded with Daniel Chukwumah's equaliser, exploiting a defensive error. As the first half progressed, Lukas Brambilla scored late, giving Chennaiyin a crucial lead heading into halftime.

The second half maintained the momentum, with Chennaiyin scoring again via Irfan Yadwad. Jamshedpur kept their hopes alive with a well-executed team goal from Mohammed Sanan. Nevertheless, Chennaiyin pulled away decisively, netting two additional goals from Yadwad and Daniel Chima Chukwu during injury time.

Coach Coyle praised his team's resilience under pressure and noted that despite being a goal down, they had been the dominant side throughout the match.

"We were under pressure because we had to stand up and deal with a lot of cross balls and throw-ins and corners coming in. But the boys stood up to that, I think we were excellent from there. Even when we went a goal behind, we'd been the better team at that time, we had chances," the coach said during the post-match press conference.

He highlighted the importance of the match for Jamshedpur FC, who needed points for confirming a playoff at home, and acknowledged the adjustments made in response to injuries and suspensions.

"Jamshedpur FC were highly motivated today because they needed a minimum of a point because they wanted a home game in the playoffs. So we knew and we made changes," he stated.

"I wanted the boys to get minutes and different things with that. And, obviously, injury, suspension, different things were there. But, they stepped up," he added.

Coach shared the thoughts he had during the game while on the sideline.

"So I felt aggrieved to be 1-0 down, but all the goals we had tonight, I am pleased for obviously, especially Daniel getting the ball to Irfan, Lucas, and that little step over. But we could have had more," he shared.

Reflecting on the season, coach Coyle lamented the team's poor home record, suggesting it ultimately hindered their playoff chances. He expressed satisfaction for the fans and emphasised the potential for better outcomes had the team performed consistently at home.

"I'm pleased for the fans, because ultimately, our home form, our home record this season has been very poor; among other things. Which ultimately causes us a place in the playoffs. Had we performed well at home, who knows, because away-from record was semi-decent this season," the coach said as he concluded.
