Delhi Dynamos FC have arrived in Kochi determined to take a point or three off Kerala Blasters FC when they meet at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium tomorrow after having failed to do so against Mumbai City FC a few days ago.The capital city side’s head coach Harm van Veldhoven echoed this determination at a press conference on the eve of the match as he believed that the narrow loss was not a fair reflection of the game which could have gone either way. The Dutchman stressed that he is happy to come to a new place (Kochi) and hopefully get a positive result, but also reflected that after two straight losses his team needs to gather momentum.“We had a good performance in the last game, and we should react, and we will react. But we didn’t take the points that we deserved in the last game,” van Veldhoven said. “That is football and it goes on, and the team is working very hard; we have three games away and we have to take points and we plan to take points here,” he added with great conviction.Van Veldhoven believes that even though the hosts are coming into this match after winning their first home game a couple of days ago, his team definitely has the capacity and the capability to win even though this is Kerala’s home ground.“We know that the game is going to be difficult, and each game is different, but in this league and in these conditions, it is very tough to judge a team’s performance,” he said. “We have to approach every game differently, so we will show Kerala respect but also know that we have the capability to take points off them. We don’t have any injuries so we can use everybody, and that is a positive; also, we are playing good football, but we have to take the chances that we create.”Delhi’s marquee player Alessandro Del Piero, who will celebrate his 40th birthday on Sunday, said that he feels fit and his form is good, but the most important thing is that the team is playing well. “We have been playing a lot of games and very quickly, so you have to have a lot of energy for this and that is ok,” he averred. The legendary Italian forward however added that they have to change their approach and get better and better. “And even if it is my birthday (laughs), there is nothing special about it, but it would be great if I score and that would be a good gift for me and the team (laughs); and hopefully, I will celebrate it the same way I always do when I score,” he quipped.
