ATK Mohun Bagan forward Liston Colaco got his goalscoring mojo back after scoring a thunderous brace in his side’s resounding 5-1 win over Gokulam Kerala FC in their Hero Super Cup Group C opener at the EMS Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode, Kerala on Monday.

Receiving a backward pass from Hugo Boumous on the left flank, Colaco took a deft touch and launched a curler that rippled the top corner of the net, that set up the first goal of the match. For the second goal, the winger poked in a long-ranger after picking up a diagonal pass from Asish Rai as he cut inside from the left and struck it hard into the top corner from outside the box.

The Goan, who blew hot and cold during the Hero ISL 2022-23 campaign with one goal and four assists, is oozing out confidence after finding the back of the net against the Malabarians.

"It's a great feeling to score a double. Now our target is to log full points against Jamshedpur FC on Friday,” Colaco said to The Telegraph.

The 24-year-old had set expectations for himself before the match and turned them into reality when took on the field.

"Before the match (against Gokulam Kerala FC), I told myself I have to find my name on the scoresheet. For a long time, I haven't performed to expectations. In some cases (during the Hero ISL 2022-23 campaign), I was unlucky not to find the target. Thankfully, everything fell in place against (Gokulam) Kerala FC. Now I want to score more goals and help my team," he added.

Hugo Boumous, who was also on the scoresheet, commented that the game against Jamshedpur FC would not be an easy task. The Men of Steel came from behind to register a thumping 5-3 victory over FC Goa and will be looking forward to continuing their momentum in the upcoming contest against the Gaurs.

"It would be a tough match. They are good at set-piece movements. We have to stay alert," Boumous added.

The Hero ISL 2022-23 champions will take on the Hero ISL 2021-22 Shield winners, Jamshedpur FC, on Saturday.
