A late goal from Rahul KP ensured a 2-1 win for Kerala Blasters FC over Bengaluru FC in Match 65 of Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2020-21 at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim on Wednesday. The Blues took the lead early in the match after a goal from Cleiton Silva but two second-half goals sealed the three points for the Blasters against the former Hero ISL champions.

At the post-match press conference, Blasters head coach Kibu Vicuna commended the attitude and commitment of his players. “The attitude and the commitment of the players is very important. In the last three games, we have been playing with a very good attitude. It was a difficult game because Bengaluru have very good players. The team did well to come back and we are very happy because we got the three points,” he said.

Vicuna was proud of the hard work that his team had put in to come back from a goal down to secure the win. “This win is very important because now we have thirteen points. In the last three matches, we have seven points now. Also, the way we came back with this attitude of never giving up makes us believe that we can keep going,” the Spaniard said.

Giving his opinion on his team’s overall performance, Vicuna said, “The team competed very well in the first half as well. We had a few good chances in the final third but we couldn't score. We played in the opponent half, created the chances and scored so we are very happy.”

Meanwhile, Bengaluru interim head coach Naushad Moosa was of the opinion that his team should have scored more goals given the number of goal-scoring chances that they created on the night. “We could have scored more goals. We created a lot of scoring opportunities. You could see this in the second half as well. The boys were really trying to create more scoring opportunities. We wanted to get more goals but unfortunately we could not score,” he said after the game.

Bengaluru lined up in a more attacking formation, with Sunil Chhetri and Udanta Singh leading their attack. Speaking about playing the Indian legend in a traditional attacking role on Wednesday, Moosa said, “Sunil was giving his 100% for the whole 90 minutes. He was working for the team and working as a leader. The idea was to have two men up front because the Blasters press high.”
