Kerala Blasters FC registered a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Jamshedpur FC in their Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2020-21 match at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco on Sunday. A goal for Costa Nhamoinesu and a brace for Jordan Murray helped 10-man Kerala Blasters -- after Lalruatthara’s send-off in the 67th minute -- to their second win of the season. At the post-match press conference, Kerala head coach Kibu Vicuna was proud of his players for showing character after going down to 10 men.

“We believed that we could win the match. Since the beginning we were fighting for three points. We started well and scored from a set-piece. Second half was very even. It was going to be difficult to win the match (after the red card) but we showed character. We showed that we are a very competitive team and I am very happy that we got the three points,” Vicuna said.

Murray scored in 79th and 82nd minutes to leave Jamshedpur stunned. Vicuna hopes that the win helps ignite his team’s season. “I believe in my team and I believe that we can play good football and get good results. Hopefully this win will be the turning point of the season,” he said.

Vicuna also heaped praise on Jamshedpur FC who fought right till the end. “We were very competitive against a tough team. They have one of the best strikers in the league and they are very dangerous from set-pieces. They have beaten some of the best teams in the league and they are a very good team,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jamshedpur head coach Owen Coyle was disappointed not to have secured a win, especially after the red card. “When they had 11 players, we were the better side in the game. When you have the advantage of the extra players, there can be lapses in concentration. We didn't deserve to lose the game. Ultimately, if you give soft goals away, you’ll be punished. We cannot give goals away like we did because we have looked solid defensively (this season).”
