Odisha FC head coach Sergio Lobera shared his delight at his players’ commendable performance as they breezed past Hyderabad FC by a 6-0 scoreline in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Hyderabad on Monday.

Isak Vanlalruatfela, Diego Mauricio, Jerry Mawihmingthanga, Mourtada Fall, Puitea, and Rahim Ali were on target for the Kalinga Warriors in their emphatic victory over the Yellow and Blacks. Moreover, this marks the third time Odisha FC have netted six goals in a single game in the league.

Lobera’s men put an end to their three-match winless streak as they returned to the winning track with a six-star performance away from home. The Spanish head coach showered praise on how Odisha FC demonstrated their offensive flair from the outset and powered past Hyderabad FC.

“I am very happy. Not only about the result, the three points but also about the way we got the three points. It has been a very good game. I think the performance of my team was amazing today,” Lobera said in the post-match press conference.

“I am very happy also because we showed improvement in the different areas we needed to improve. We need to be happy today, but tomorrow we need to put the focus on the next game against Bengaluru FC,” he further added.

Lobera highlighted the significance of getting three points in the context of their current standing in the points table. The Odisha FC head coach didn’t want to contemplate their position in the league; rather, he prioritized keeping his focus on one match at a time.

Speaking in context, he remarked, “It’s always important to get points to improve our position on the table. But to think about where we are going to be at the end of the season is a big mistake. We need to go step by step. We know this league is very difficult. Maybe this year is the most difficult and most competitive season.”

Lobera urged his players to carry on the positive momentum in the forthcoming matches, as he anticipates that the playoff race will intensify this season with the increasing competitiveness of the league.

"I think there are a lot of teams involved to get the same target, the playoffs. Maybe in other seasons, there are six or seven favourites to get this. It will be a very tough season, but now the table is not the most important thing," he commented.

"Now we need to put focus on improving game by game and showing the level we showed today," Lobera signed off.
