FC Goa earned their second point in Group E (West Region) of the 2021 AFC Champions League after holding UAE-based club Al Wahda to a 0-0 draw. The Gaurs defended resiliently as they continued their strong start in the continental competition and now find themselves in the second spot in the group having stayed unbeaten after two games. Following their result, fans and experts took to social media to express their admiration for FC Goa’s memorable performance.

The praise wasn’t only limited to fans and experts with the likes of Jamshedpur FC’s Farukh Choudhary and All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) president Praful Patel sharing their appreciation for the Gaurs as well.

A number of FC Goa players were lauded after their recent displays, but none more so than their winter signing Dheeraj Singh. The young goalkeeper kept his second clean sheet in the AFC Champions League and has been one of the Gaurs’ standout performers so far.

However, the 20-year-old custodian was not the only player who received praise. Brandon Fernandes struck the frame of the goal in the second half and was busy for FC Goa in the middle of the park. Meanwhile, another winter recruit in Glan Martins also put in a commendable performance alongside Edu Bedia in midfield.
