Kerala Blasters FC have secured their final overseas signing of the summer with the acquisition of Greek centre-forward Dimitrion Diamantakos the club announced on Thursday.

Diamantakos joins the Blasters from Croatian top-flight team HNK Hadjuk Split.

The 29-year-old has represented Greece at all youth levels, scoring 19 goals in 46 matches. He was the runner-up at the European U-19 Championship as well as the 2nd top scorer of the tournament. Diamantakos has also played 5 times for the Greece National Team under former Premier League winning coach Claudio Ranieri.

Head coach Ivan Vukomanovic will hope the Greek striker would be a perfect replacement for Alvaro Vazquez who joined FC Goa ahead of the new Hero Indian Super League (ISL) season.

“I’m so excited about the new chapter that opens in my career. It’s a big challenge for me. I heard a lot about the club, the amazing fans and the history of the team and I will do everything to achieve our goals” Diamantakos said after signing with the club.

Commenting on the Blaster’s last foreign signing of the summer Sporting Director Karolis Skinkys said “I would like to invite all Kerals fans to congratulate Dimitrios in the best possible way. That’s the quality of what we deserved in this prestigious club. I wish all the best to Dimitrios in this season.”

The club is currently in the UAE as part of its pre-season preparations for the upcoming Hero Indian Super League 2022/23 season. Diamantakos is expected to link up with his teammates in Dubai subject to travel permissions and a medical.

Gaurav Bora joins NorthEast United FC

NorthEast United FC have secured the services of Indian defender Gaurav Bora who joins the club after three years with Odisha FC.

Having emerged from the FC Pune City academy, Bora played a key role in Chennai City FC’s I-League triumph before making a mark in the Hero ISL with Odisha FC for whom he played 41 matches.

With a move to NorthEast United FC, Bora returns to Guwahati where he was born before shifting his base to New Delhi.

Bora who can also play in midfield and across the defensive line will give head coach Marco Balbul a lot of flexibility and will add quality to their Indian ranks.
