Click here to view RF Young Champs Final Selection Camp Day 2 photo gallery Day 2 of the Reliance Foundation Young Champs Final Selection Camp got off to an early start with all 158 participants waking up and assembling for refreshments around 6:30 am. They were then transferred from Beverly Park to Fr. Agnel Ground for their first training session. The training session began at 7 am and ended around 9 am. It featured warm-ups, positional play, shooting practice and numerous small-sided games.The gifted talents then returned to their Beverly Park base for breakfast at 9:30 am. This was followed by rest time for the youngsters to allow them to recuperate ahead of the second training session of the day in the evening. A video feature was also displayed in the auditorium during this time and was optional for kids to attend.Lunch was served at 1:45 pm as all the youngsters gathered in the marquee tent before moving to the auditorium for a seminar where they were briefed about the project and the programme for the week. The seminar ended at 2:45 pm with all the players returning to their respective rooms to gain some rest before they laced up their boots and changed into their training kit. Around 4 pm, the hopefuls moved back to the marquee tent for some refreshments before boarding a bus at 4:30 pm to return to Fr. Agnel Ground for the evening session.The evening session started at 5 pm and saw the youngsters from all eight Hero Indian Super League franchise teams become better acquainted with one another as the coaches mixed and matched the talented hopefuls into teams of four. The coaches evaluated their performances in match situations with all the participants giving it their all in a high intensity 4-v-4 tournament. The tournament saw two individual winners as the under-12 and under-13 victors stood tall on two separate pitches. The session concluded at 7 pm, following which they were transferred back to Beverly Park by bus. After freshening up quickly, they made their way back to the marquee tent for dinner, which was served at 8 pm.Head coach of the Reliance Foundation Young Champs programme Mark Vaessen commented on the intensity of the competition on display. “We still have talents like last year but in general there are more players this time who can cope with their own talent, so the level is higher than last year,” said Vaessen.Vaessen also spoke about the theory sessions that are a part of the final selection camp. “We are talking about skills, small tactics and make them look at their own game. They’ve already started looking at themselves and when they’re 16 then it will be easier for them to make an analysis of the game,” Vaessen said.
