Click here to view Day 1, PGMOL-ISL Referee Workshop photo galleryIn keeping with the Hero Indian Super League’s ambitious plan to develop football across varied aspects of the sport, the second Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) workshop kicked off on Tuesday. The three-day workshop from April 26 to April 28 in Beverly Park, Navi Mumbai aims to help, groom and train AIFF-affiliated Indian match officials by putting them through numerous theoretical as well as practical sessions.The workshop kicked off at 9 am with a short opening ceremony and was followed by an interactive quiz based on the laws of the game. Areas of focus in this session revolved around issues such as conflict resolution, technical area management along with all its intricacies, and lastly different techniques that can be utilised to manage scenarios of conflict with aggressive individuals. The session concluded at 10:30 am for the first break of the day.The second session commenced at 11 am with the topic of focus shifting to more match-related circumstances like handling the ball, consistent recognition and penalising of offences. This session also featured reflections and reinforcement of the learning objectives of the workshop session. It ended at 1 pm for the lunch break shortly after a Q&A session.The topic of focus for the last session which began at 2:30 pm was the recognition of DOGSO (Deny an Obvious Goal-Scoring Opportunity). It capped off all the theoretical sessions for the day, and the practical sessions got underway. The practical session began from 5:30 pm and went on till 7:30 as the referees took part in warm-up and technical area activities. It marked the end of Day 1 of the PGMOL workshop.
