There was a lack of concentration: Coyle reflects on defeat to Mohun Bagan SG
Coyle shared his views on the game following their narrow defeat to the Mariners in Kolkata.
Chennaiyin FC head coach Owen Coyle pointed to a momentary lapse in concentration as the reason for their late defeat to Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Saturday.
The match was a hard-fought battle, with both teams evenly matched and seemingly heading towards a draw. However, the introduction of two influential foreign substitutes for the home side proved to be a game-changer.

Greg Stewart and Jason Cummings linked up perfectly, with Stewart providing the assist and Cummings finishing with a brilliant curling shot into the top corner in the 86th minute, ultimately altering the outcome of the game.
“We had the ball in a very good position. We used to retain possession. So, there was a lack of concentration, which can happen when young players are getting tired. And then, of course, they play a pass (that arrives at) Greg Stewart, somebody I know very well. And he's able to play the pass to Jason Cummings,” Coyle said during the post-match press conference.

Stewart’s introduction as a substitute in the 85th minute proved to be a game-changer, with the Scottish playmaker going on to be named man of the match.
The tactician praised Stewart, a former player under him at Jamshedpur FC, and also highlighted the quality of fellow foreigner Jason Cummings.
“Greg Stewart and Jason Cummings will play for any team in the league. Greg Stewart is arguably, since he came in, probably one of the best, if not the best player in the league since I brought him into the league with Jamshedpur FC,” he added.
Chennaiyin FC are now placed eighth on the table following Mumbai City FC's win earlier in the day.
However, Coyle remained optimistic and aims to focus on the upcoming two home games, looking to secure maximum points and climb higher up the table.
“We're still well-placed, and that's why I'm excited moving forward because with the home games coming, we can pick up points and look to move ourselves back into those playoff places. And that's what we'll look to do.”
“We have two home games now, East Bengal FC and Hyderabad FC at home. And we have to make sure we replicate those levels of energy and drive,” Coyle commented.
