There is a big wish to continue: Kerala Blasters FC head coach Ivan Vukomanovic on his future
Kerala Blasters FC head coach Ivan Vukomanovic hinted at continuing as head coach of the team next season in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) but suggested that he will take his time to have discussions with the board over his future.
The Blasters lost to Hyderabad FC on penalties in the final on Sunday making it their third loss in as many Hero ISL finals. However, Vukomanovic who guided Kerala Blasters FC to their first final in six years has impressed the fans who gave him a big reception on Sunday.
The Serbian said he will hold discussions with the board over his future in the coming days.
“We had a talk with the management. We said to each other that there is a big wish to continue,” Vukomanovic told the media after the final on Sunday.
“I wanted the management to sit down and finally fix all those things now that the season is done. I didn't want or we didn't want these things to influence certain things because we wanted to have a clear mind and not be focussed on something else on our way to the final,” he added.
However, Vukomanovic suggested that he won’t rush with the talks as he wants the dust to settle on the season and open the contract conversations with a fresh state of mind.
“Now we will use this opportunity to sit down next week when the emotions cool down. After such a game and such a season, we have to sleep over it and then sit down and decide. Hopefully, we see each other again,” he said.
Vukomanovic has made a big impact in his first year in the Hero ISL and didn’t just make Kerala Blasters FC a successful side but did so while playing attractive football and by using a lot of Indian youngsters in the team.
A fan favourite already, the Kerala Blasters FC faithful would be hoping to see Vukomanovic in the dugout next season.
