The All India Football Federation (AIFF), on Monday, announced that six players - Sumeet Passi, Nandhakumar Sekar, Redeem Tlang, Bikramjit Singh, Germanpreet Singh and Vishal Kaith - have been released from the ongoing national camp for the upcoming King's Cup tournament on Thailand.

Newly-appointed national team head coach Igor Stimac decided to trim the squad after a six-day-long preparatory camp in New Delhi involving 37 probables. The Croatian may opt to make further exclusions to the current 31-member list to close in on his final squad for the upcoming tournament.

The camp was Stimac's first rendezvous with his players after being officially named as the new India head coach back on May 15. He succeeded Englishman Stephen Constantine, who vacated the post after India's early exit from the AFC Asian Cup 2019 in January.

The Blue Tigers will play their opening match of the King's Cup, which also happens to be their first international engagement post the AFC Asian Cup, against Curacao on June 5 at the Buriram Stadium. Depending on the result of the fixture, India will square off against hosts Thailand or Vietnam in either the final or the third-place playoff match on June 8. Ranked 82nd in Current FIFA Rankings, Curacao will pose a tough challenge for Stimac in his maiden outing as the steward of the Indian national team.
