Sergio Lobera voices displeasure over Odisha FC's draw with Mumbai City FC
The Odisha FC head coach shared his post-match thoughts after the draw against the Islanders.
Odisha FC head coach Sergio Lobera shared his dissatisfaction with their overall performance as they played out a goalless draw against Mumbai City FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
It was an end-to-end battle from the offset, with both teams having contrasting chances throughout the 90 minutes. Mumbai City FC generated numerous attacking moves in both halves, but a resilient defence line led by Amrinder Singh and Mourtada Fall guided the hosts to secure a point.
As a result, Lobera’s men failed to score at home in the ISL, snapping their scoring streak of 10 consecutive games at home; in fact, this is the first time the Kalinga Warriors have failed to score against Mumbai City FC at the Kalinga Stadium.
“It was a little bit (of a) crazy game. It's a different game compared with the games we played before. It was a difficult game for us. My feeling, being honest today as a coach, (is that) I am not happy with my job,” Lobera shared his thoughts on the goalless draw against the Islanders during the post-match press conference.
“Because I think in the first half we suffered. We gave the position on the board to the opponent. They (Mumbai City FC) were comfortable. They are a strong team trying to find spaces between lines, and we suffered. We generated our chances. Diego (Mauricio) had two clear chances in the first half and at the end of the game. But it was more impulsive situations than the domination of the game,” he further explained.

The Spanish head coach acknowledged that the outcome could have been different, given their goal-scoring form in previous matches. However, Lobera expressed dissatisfaction with how the game unfolded.
Speaking in the context, Lobera remarked, “I think we can win the game. We can lose the game. And we can draw the game now. Finally, the feeling is that sometimes we lose two points. But with the way the game went today, my feeling is that we got one point and I am not happy with the feeling.”
“I am not speaking about my players. I am speaking in general terms about the game,” he added.
The Kailnga Warriors will next face East Bengal FC on December 12 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in an away fixture. Lobera anticipates a different gameplay against the Red and Gold Brigade, saying,
“The next game is absolutely different. The profile of East Bengal FC is very different from that of Mumbai City FC. Every game is different.”
“We need to approach the next game thinking we are going to play against a different opponent. Every game is different. The demand for the next game is not the same as we had today against Mumbai City FC. Because there are two very different team profiles. Now we need to think (about) how we can manage the situation for the next game,” Lobera concluded.
