FC Goa comprehensively beat Odisha FC by three goals in the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Sunday. Ferran Corominas scored two of the three goals on the night, taking them back to the top of the Hero ISL table.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, head coach Sergio Lobera expressed his unhappiness with his team’s overall performance despite the win, “The responsibility that I have as a coach is towards my team, and today I am not happy because the score line does not reflect the reality of what happened at home. If we play the same way going forward, I think we will not win anymore matches. We need to improve and learn from this match because when you decrease the level in this league, it is very difficult to win the trophy.”

“I think it was very important to analyse the situation. It is a very important three points and everyone is happy. But it’s difficult to win more matches. Everyone knows that we keep the ball, have possession, create chances and dominate but that was not the case against Odisha.  They played well throughout the match. I think they had a few chances. It could have been 1-1 if they had scored. I don’t normally believe in luck, but today, maybe, we were a little bit lucky,” he added.

The Spaniard also spoke about Odisha and the fight that they put up, “The opponents have very good players and when they started pressing in between the lines, I think we came under a little bit of pressure. I think we missed the communication. It is very important to stay defensive. They covered the ball faster. I think today we need to analyse the match well to improve. We have three days for the next match. I know everyone is happy with our position but it's too early to party.”
