FC Goa take on ATK FC in the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Saturday. The Gaurs won the reverse fixture back in December but will have their work cut out for them considering they have never won an away match against ATK.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Goa head coach Sergio Lobera said, “If we are confident because we won the last match against ATK, then it is a big mistake for us. Every match is different. ATK are a big team. They replaced their injured players very fast. I think ATK can win the league. They have made a huge effort to build this team. We need to win the match 100% and work together as a team and my players will give their 100%.”

With just three points separating the two sides and both vying to finish the league stage at the top of the table, Lobera stressed the importance of a win in the tie and stated, “It’s very important for all teams to finish on top of the league. The game against ATK is a big challenge because the distance between us will become six points if we win this match. I think it’s a big step but now our focus is the game against ATK and to keep the top spot. ATK are a very big challenge because they are a very good team.”

Commenting on Goa’s unique style of football, which he helped develop, the Spaniard opined, “It is important to stick to our style because we are not only supposed to win the matches but also play well. It’s important to have the same squad so that they can understand me. This season, the team has been working very well and I am very proud of my players.”

Lobera was joined by striker Ferran Corominas, who reiterated the important of the upcoming challenge and said, “The next game is a very important one. It’s a big game for both the teams. Both teams are fighting to finish at the top of the league. We must give our 100% and get back home with the three points. ATK are a very balanced and compact team. But in the last game we pressed high and created a lot of chances and that’s what we have to do.”

Asked if he had one eye on the Golden Boot and complete his hat-trick, he said, “My primary goal for the team is to finish on top of the table. Obviously, my goals will help the team to achieve that and if that is the case then we will be more than happy. I have been scoring more goals at home, but I hope to help my team with my hard work. Even if I don’t score and the team wins, everyone will be more than happy.”
