Being a goalkeeper is unforgiving and one of the most difficult positions to master in football. A single moment can make you a hero or a villain. Therefore, the ability to give consistent performances in that role is what separates the great from the good.

In the 2021-22 Hero Indian Super League (ISL) campaign, we have seen several amazing goalkeepers showcase their ability and talent. However, a few of them have stood out of the crop. Let's take a look at some shot-stoppers who have been pivotal to their respective teams' campaigns this season.

Prabhsukhan Gill

We cannot talk about any other goalkeeper, before mentioning the Golden Glove winner. Gill was the standout shot-stopper in the 2021-22 Hero ISL. With a 70% save percentage and 47 saves across 20 games, the 21-year-old was part of one of the most robust defenses in the league that kept seven clean sheets, which was the most in the league.

Even though his side fell short of winning the Hero ISL title, Gill has shone brightly this season and the yellow army would want for him to continue this form into the next season.

TP Rehenesh

At a height of 180 centimeters, TP Rehenesh has proved himself to be one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the league. This season, he has featured in 20 games for Jamshedpur FC and has made 43 saves while keeping six clean sheets in that period.

Maintaining an impeccable save percentage of 67%, the 29-year-old has been a rock in front of the net in Jamshedpur FC’s League Shield win.

Laxmikant Kattimani

His name could be included in this list just for his performance in the penalty shootout in the Hero ISL final, but Kattimani has been impressive throughout the season. The 32-year-old has been one of the standout goalkeepers in the league with a 72% save percentage. Also, he has only conceded 1.05 goals per game, which is the same as Golden Glove winner Prabhsukhan Gill.

Standing tall against attackers, Kattimani made 61 saves in the Hero ISL, which was the most in the league. Being praised by his gaffer, it is only going to boost his confidence and he would like to continue this vein of form in the foreseeable future.

Arshdeep Singh

In a short stint of eight games in the second half of the season, Arshdeep Singh showed his great goalkeeping ability and potential. Keeping two clean sheets in that time, he helped his side finish in a respectable seventh spot in the league table.

With a save percentage of 64%, the 24-year-old would want to build on this promise and look to increase his game-time with Odisha FC next season
