Kerala Blasters FC left back Sandesh Jhingan is one of the finds of the Hero Indian Super League, having put in a series of consistent performances in an unfamiliar position. He has figured mainly as a centre back in his fledgling career earlier. The tall Chandigarh native was understandably in a deflated mood after his side crashed to a 1-0 defeat to Mumbai City FC in Navi Mumbai but nevertheless chose to dwell on the positives after the defeat.“We feel really bad after losing because we thought we had the momentum with us after winning the last game. We really wanted some points from this game, unfortunately, we lost, but we should look at the good side that we played well and dominated,” the 21-year-old player told www.indiansuperleague.com after the defeat.Jhingan said it was an honour to play against Anelka. who scored the winning goal off a scintillating free kick. “While growing up, you’ve seen him on television, it gives you goose bumps when you see him in front of you. You learn a lot when you see him play, how he moves, how professional he is and how the team reacts, so it’s great for the players of Mumbai City FC. It’s an honour, it’s something I can tell my grandchildren,” he enthused. The 21-year-old Jhingan said he is enjoying an extended run of games in the Hero Indian Super League and credited his fitness levels to his earlier coaches in domestic football. “I thank God that I’m getting a good run of games. I think it’s a team game, the team really helps you improve, after that I think it’s the coach’s job. David (James) and (Trevor) Morgan are really helping me a lot,” he admitted.Jhingan concluded by reiterating that his teammates would strive to do better in the next game to get their campaign back on track. “We want to win, we want to continue our form in this game but we will try our best in the next game,” he said.
