Last season under coach Harm van Veldhoven, Delhi Dynamos failed to make it to the semi-final stages of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL). This year, with four games in hand and a place in the top half of the standings table, current coach Roberto Carlos seems to have a better chance of seeing his Lions play beyond the league stage. The Brazilian legend, however, was keen to put the past behind and talk of the present. “I am not really worried about what happened last season. They did their best; however, they couldn’t get to the playoffs,” said Carlos, addressing the pre-match press conference prior to their upcoming fixture against Chennaiyin FC. “These 18 points speak for the whole group, and not just for certain players. We have a great team and a great family.”“In such a balanced league like this, I am not really worried about the standings. A lot of times, the best team of the season does not become the champion. I want to get to the playoffs, so I am thinking just about that.”The game at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium [Chennai] would be a crucial one for the Dynamos, according to Roberto Carlos, considering the pressure on the Super Machans. “We know the Chennai situation this moment. If they play attacking football, we will counter their attack. If they play defensively, we will position our players well. The pressure is on Chennaiyin because we are playing at their home. So they would have to be the superior team.”Speaking about his strategy, Carlos mentioned: “We have seen some of Chennai’s games. Two of their main players will not play because of yellow cards. About my team, [whether] we play at home or outside, we play the same way. I know the quality and skills of each player of my team. Football is a clever game. We have to watch and make our own strategy.”
