A struggling NorthEast United FC take on ATK FC in the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Monday. The Highlanders are winless since the beginning of November and will face a tough challenge away to ATK.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, NorthEast head coach Robert Jarni spoke about his team's top four chances, taking into account their worrying form off late. "We have seven matches left. We are aware of the situation. But we are optimistic, and we will always fight for the little hope to qualify for the semis. We will do everything we can to win the match. We are working on the way to go about it,” he said.

“Any team can win this league. In the last few months, we lost most of the matches in the last few minutes. Until the last minute, you never know who can win. We are yet to see a team that is very impressive. All teams are equal. They all have the will, it’s kind of unpredictable,” he added.

Injuries to some key players have seen the Highlanders make a few changes to their squad in the January transfer window. Addressing these, the Croatian opined, “It’s important that every player is available to us. Most of the injuries are under control. We had to make some changes, but we were prepared for that. Our players are doing a good job. All in all, the players are working to their best abilities.”

Joining the 51-year-old head coach was player Nikhil Kadam, who spoke about the mood in the camp and said, “The players are motivating each other. This helps in improving the mood. We have a lot of young players and we are improving our game and adapting to the strategies of the coach. We focus on each match individually.”
