NorthEast United FC head coach Ricki Herbert.NorthEast United FC head coach Ricki Herbert has promised to dish out an attacking brand of football when his team take on Delhi Dynamos FC in a crucial clash at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Monday. The Highlanders are seventh in the Hero Indian Super League table and need a win against the cellar side to improve their chances of making the top four. The Kiwi gaffer however did not appear to be too concerned about figuring in the lower half of the table, as he remarked at the pre-match press conference, “We have played a game less than the other teams. We shall see where we will be in the table after tomorrow’s game.”The former New Zealand coach asserted that the Highlanders would be looking to play an attacking brand of football against the visitors. “We have been good when it comes to keeping possession. We will be looking to play an attacking game tomorrow. We will also try and put away the chances that we create,” he stated. When asked if he knew the reason behind his side’s goal drought, Herbert replied that it was due to lack of composure. “It’s not that we are not creating any chances. We are just lacking the composure to put them away. Hopefully, we can stick a few in the back of the net against Delhi,” Herbert quipped. The former Kiwi international defender also revealed that he had a full squad to choose from as some of his players had recovered from niggles. “We had James Keene and Alen Deory up front in our last home game and that gave us a chance to rest some of our boys. Most of them have recovered from whatever niggles that they were carrying,” he said. Herbert also refused to comment on whether local lad Durga Boro or marquee player Joan Capdevila would be starting tomorrow, saying, “You will just have to wait for the game to find out.”NorthEast United’s top scorer Koke reiterated his coach’s words at the media interaction. “We have been keeping possession in all our games but have been failing to put away chances. Hopefully, tomorrow we can find our goal scoring form,” the Spaniard said.
