FC Pune City continued their unbeaten pre-season run by easing past the DSK Liverpool U-19 academy, and scoring an overwhelming eight goals in the process. The match finished 8-1 in favour of the Hero ISL side. The result complemented the other piece of good news for Pune fans today, as they announced the signing of Greek international midfielder Kostas Katsouranis. The players took to the Mamurdi ground on the outskirts of Pune amidst a slight drizzle, and produced an impressive attacking performance. The DSK boys, despite losing by such a huge margin, actually put up a decent fight at times during the 90 minutes, but were outclassed by their more experienced opponents. The game was essentially settled in the opening few minutes, as Pune City scored thrice, courtesy of a goal each from star striker David Trezeguet and new acquisition Dudu Omagbemi, and an own goal. The young guns from DSK showed some heart though, and pulled a goal back to make it 3-1. However, the goal seemed to provide more impetus to the Pune players to go all out. Dudu scored minutes later with a beautiful header, and Trezeguet, who has been in fine scoring touch during the pre-season, added another to give the ISL side a mammoth advantage. The match eventually ended 8-1 to Franco Colomba's men, and undoubtedly sent another strong signal to the other seven ISL teams. This was the third win for Pune City in four pre-season games, and they would be hoping to carry their form into the Hero Indian Super League which begins on 12th October.
