ATK Mohun Bagan coach Juan Ferrando believes conceding goals is not too much of a concern if his team gets the three points in a match as they prepare to face Hyderabad FC in match 50 of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 at PJN Stadium in Margao, Goa on Wednesday.

ATK Mohun Bagan is placed fourth in the league table with 14 points in eight matches. The club is level on points with Kerala Blasters FC and Chennaiyin FC, having played a game less. They have registered four wins, two draws and two loses till now.

ATKMB defeated FC Goa 2-1 in their last match. They had only two shots at goal in the match, both of which resulted in goals.

Ahead of ATK Mohun Bagan’s clash against Hyderabad FC, coach Ferrando addressed the media during the official pre-match press conference.

Here are the excerpts from the press conference.

What are your thoughts on Hyderabad FC?

It will be a good game. They play amazing football. They have a good squad. We want to have a similar style. Their center-backs are good with build-up play. The left-back and right-back play high up the pitch. Jao and Edu control the game. And Ogbeche is an amazing number nine.

A win tomorrow will take ATKMB to the top of the table, so how important is it to win tomorrow?

Of course it’s important. All the games are important. But it’s a great opportunity for the club and players. They have been working hard. It will be great for the fans.

Since your arrival the team has won two games back-to-back but has failed to keep a clean sheet. Is it a concern?

No, to be honest the most important thing is to win the games. Those three points give more confidence to the team. We have a new plan. I think it’s very important to control the space. But players need more time to learn and adapt to the new philosophy. It’s not easy. There’s a process and the players have been working hard in the training sessions.

You haven’t played Joni in the first couple of matches, any reason for it?

He is incredible, very professional. I love these types of players. For example, he may not be in the starting lineup but when he is on the field, he works really hard. He is the first person on the training pitch in the morning after the match. For me the most important thing is that he is ready when the team requires him.

Manvir has struggled with goals this season, what do you make of it?

From my perspective, his performances are good but he needs to time his attack. It’s normal, and I am not worried. He is working on it. My target is to help him in the final third.
