Click here to view Day 3, PGMOL-ISL Referee Workshop photo gallery The second Hero ISL Referee Workshop conducted by the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) at Beverly Park in Navi Mumbai came to an end on Thursday. Several referees and assistant referees affiliated with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) attended the final day of the workshop, which aims at raising refereeing standards in India. The three-day long workshop from April 26 to April 28 is an initiative taken by the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) in keeping with its objective to help football grow across all aspects by conducting numerous theoretical as well as practical sessions.Day 3 began at 9 am and only featured theoretical sessions. The session kicked off with an interactive game covering the Laws of the Game and had active participation from the referees and assistant referees in attendance. The topic in focus during the session revolved around crucial decision-making in and around the penalty area and ‘selling’ the decision. The session ended at 10:30 am for the first break of the day.The second session of the day started at 11 am with the topic in focus being body language and personality. A few key areas discussed in the session were how, where and when a referee can make use of his personality. Having a strong body language to deal with such situations more effectively was also on the agenda. This was followed by reflections and reinforcement of the learning objectives of the workshop session at 12:30 pm and a brief questions and answers session before the lunch break at 1 pm.The last session of the workshop began at 2:30 pm as all the referees and assistant referees returned to the auditorium after lunch. Reading the game, tactical advice and anticipation of play were the topics in focus for the post lunch session. It ended at 4 pm and was followed by a brief closing ceremony at 4:30 pm.
