Javier Siverio has been a revelation for the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) since his signing by Hyderabad FC ahead of the 2021-22 season. Their only foreign signing to not have had a taste of Hero ISL, in his debut season, the striker has smashed five goals and provided in an assist.

In conversation with IFTWC, Siverio demarcated how his previous experience in Spanish clubs has been different from playing in India where football is growing every day.

“I think that every year the difference between Indian and Spanish clubs is getting lesser. Indian clubs and players are trying to improve their qualities as each day passes by, they have a magnificent attitude, and that’s the most important thing to achieve what they want. It’s obvious that in Spain the main sport is football. I know here it is Cricket, but I think people are watching more football here every day and enjoying the sport,” said Siverio.

A young dependable force upfront, Siverio was handpicked by coach Manuel Marquez himself after having coached him in the Las Palmas B side in the 2016-17 season. Siverio wishes he gets the chance to play in front of the home crowd and bring the fans some joy.

“This is a great club, and I think the professionalism of the club is the best thing. The club is always trying to do things in a perfect way for the players, and that is amazing. Hyderabad FC has a great and big city behind them. About the fans, all I can say is that we will make them proud and hopefully, next year, we will enjoy football together in our lovely city.”

Hyderabad is currently placed at the helm of the league table with 29 points in the bag in 16 matches with eight wins and five draws.
