Chennaiyin FC head coach Owen Coyle hailed his side after they secured a thumping 5-1 win over Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Monday.

Chennaiyin FC showcased a stellar performance against Jamshedpur FC, clinching a decisive 5-1 victory with contributions from five different goalscorers. After establishing a commanding 3-0 lead by halftime, they maintained their dominance throughout the match. Although Javier Hernandez managed to score a late consolation goal for the home side, it did little to change the outcome, as Chennaiyin FC handed Jamshedpur FC their first home defeat of the season.

Coyle was delighted with the way his players performed and felt they could have scored more goals.

“It was an outstanding performance. Jamshedpur FC were unbeaten at home this season and carried on the form with them. So we knew that it would be a difficult game but how we set about it from the first whistle, was outstanding. We probably should have been in front before we were. We had some wonderful chances, (we played) some terrific football. It was outstanding. We scored five goals tonight. We could probably have had nine or ten. Some of the chances we had were outstanding from the first whistle. But we've been showing that this season,” he said in the post-match press conference.

Forward Irfan Yadwad made a dazzling impact by scoring his first goal of the season in spectacular fashion. He made a brilliant run from the halfway line, outpacing two defenders before delivering a precise finish. In addition to his goal, the Goan player also provided assists, rounding off an outstanding performance. Head coach Coyle was full of praise for the 23-year-old, who has consistently been a key figure in the starting eleven.

“Young Irfan scored an outstanding goal. He’s been threatening since day one and I've seen something in him, so I've persevered with him, tried to bring him on, encourage him and try to develop him. And he’s worked ever so hard for the team. Even when he has not scored, he has done a tremendous job for the team. And we people in the game see that, some others don’t and people will always question us in that. But with all due respect, let the people that know the game and coaches, let them judge players and know the best way to go about for the team,” the CFC head coach expressed.

With their third victory of the season, Chennaiyin FC climbed to sixth place in the standings. Impressively, all three wins have been achieved on the road, and they have lost just one of their five away matches. Coach Coyle expressed his delight at the team's away performance and remains optimistic about their prospects for the ongoing season.

“We have now taken as many points this season away from home in those five games than we did the whole of last season. So that augurs well. Obviously we made the playoffs last year because we finished really strongly. So knowing how strong we always feel in the second half of the season, it is a nice spot to be in. We’ve got to continue to work hard, continue to kick on and if we perform like that we will win an awful lot of games in the ISL,” he said.
