SC East Bengal head coach Jose Manuel Diaz felt his team was unlucky to concede the goal against Kerala Blasters but suggested that the performances of his team must improve for them to get a win in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL).

The Red and Gold brigade held Kerala Blasters to a 1-1 draw for their third point of the Hero ISL season but are still without a win.

SC East Bengal took the lead through Tomislav Mrcela but Alvaro Vazquez’s deflected shot restored parity for the Blasters.

Diaz addressed the media after the match.

Here are the excerpts from his post-match press conference.

We don't often see a third choice goalkeeper start. Sankar Roy played today. Why did you play him today and what did you make of his performance?

After six matches we played the third goalkeeper. The reason is that he has the level to play and Arindam (Bhattacharja) is injured.

SC East Bengal scored first today but why do you think the team couldn't keep the lead?

Our level is what it is. The opponents created chances but today we were unlucky as Kerala Blasters FC's goal was after a deflection.

Raju Gaikwad's performances haven't been upto the mark. What are the reasons you are sticking with him?

Raju is playing because the level of the team is what it is. We make mistakes every match but Raju has performed at a certain level and that's the reason why he is playing.

You have drawn three and lost three this season. What is stopping you from collecting that first win of the season?

We have to keep working and improve our level because our performances are not good enough to get three points.

You were losing many balls in the midfield today. You also took off two midfielders. Is that an area that needs improvement?

The whole team needs to improve including the coaches and the players. We had to make the changes as two players were on yellow cards and also some players were tired and that's the reason for the changes.
